Bushcraft skills to boost your confidence

You don't need to be Tarzan to manage in the wild, but you do need to know something. On this trip we keep on the more comfortable side of survival, learning some basic skills that come in handy when doing trips in the nature.

On this trip we take a short tram/bus ride to a close by nature preserve with plenty of nice trails. After a short hike we make camp and set up training spots for various skills, for example;

  • Using a knife and an axe.

  • Building and lighting a fire without matches.

  • Reading a map, using a compass.

Exact program will vary a bit according to season and weather. We'll have some coffee, tea or hot juice IF we get the fire going!

The trip in a nutshell

  • Experience the Finnish nature up close.

  • Learn basic, easy bushcraft skills.

  • Get a boost in confidence to get out in the wild more.

  • Disconnect with the modern world and reconnect with Mother Nature.

  • Total duration of trip: 3-4 hours.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Minimum of three (3) participants is needed for this trip to be arranged as planned. In the case the minimum is not met and the trip is not arranged, Queertrail will refund all payments to those already booked. Sorry for this, but we can´t do this from our pocket!

How to prepare

  • Wear proper shoes; Hiking shoes are best, running shoes or boots are OK too. Water proof if possible, this is the land of swamps and thousands of lakes!

  • Dress according to weather; Our summers are warm and winters are cold, and then there's everything in between. Mostly wet. And wet means quickly cold. So even in the summer, long sleeves and pants are advised, at least brought along. Some type of headwear is good, it's always good to have as much as possible between you and the sun, rain and mosquitos. Winter is cold, sometimes real cold, wear enough!

  • Open your senses and mind, shut down your phone. Honestly, this is the best thing you can do. Taking pictures is OK of course, but remember that the lens can never experience what your senses can.

  • More detailed instructions will be given according to trip & conditions.
